Sources of the Lanoue family
(There are many variations in the name shown as Noüe, Noe, Noa, Ney and Nay)

The following document regarding the French origins is based on "Le Précis généalogique de la
Maison de la Noüe " by the Viscount Oscar de Poli, to which a part is added by Pierre du Vair, John L Redmond, compared with information according to Chesnaye Desbois from the castle of Quintin sent by Philippe Lanoue of Clion France, in the searches by Basile Lanneau of Washington D.C. A selection of
Grand Armorial, La Messelière, Régis Valette were consulted.
The family de la Noue is of old Breton
extraction and counted several branches: Bogard, Passy,
Vair, Vieuxpont, Briord, des Aubiers.

Vivant and Solomon de la Noue lived around 1085. They were witnesses for a sentence in favor
of the abbey of St-Serge of Angers.

Garnier de la Noue lived in 1152 can be supposed father of the following.

II-
Guillaume, Lord de la Noue, Knight, deceased in 1200, and buried in the church of Fresnay in Retz,
Episcopate of Nantes, where his tomb still existed in 1661 and believed father of the following:

Jean, Lord de la Noue, Knight, finalized a testament in March 1246, that included a donation to the
Monastery of Geneston and believed father of the following.

Jean II, Lord de la Noue, is noted as son of late Jean de la Noue in a 1263 investigation by the
Abbot of Geneston and believed father of the following.

Jean III, Lord de la Noue, squire deceased in 1286 and believed father of the following.

Guillaume II, Lord de la Noue, squire, lived in 1308, and believed father of the following.

Guillaume III, Lord de la Noue, deceased in 1371. Goods were confiscated by Charles V.
Testament: 1372. Children: Olivier who follows, Jean, Girard, Gilles, Maurice.

Olivier, Lord de la Noue appears in the titles of this Seigniory in 1365 and believed father of
Guillaume who follows, Jean, Maurice, Marie, Jamette, Tiphaine.

Guillaume IV, Lord de la Noue, who was a noble of Baronnie de Retz gave oath to the Duke of
Brittany in1384. He received the Guibretoux grounds in Châtellenie of Huguetières plus his title of
nobility in 1402. He deceased in 1417, leaving only one daughter listed below :

Jeanne, Lady de la Noue, married Jean de Basoges. Deceased before 1453. No children..
She bequeathed her cousin to Maurice de la Noue.
